Management Profiles
NFM’s Management team is responsible for overseeing the establishment of all internal operations policies, accounting standards and production goals. In addition, the management team is responsible for assuring that all lending activity is conducted in full compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. The Management team will guide corporate growth and entry into new markets and states. Key management staff profiles are as follows:
David Silverman, President/CEO
David Silverman and his wife Sandy started NFM, Inc. in 1998 as a small brokerage shop with four loan officers. Today NFM, Inc. has grown to be a national lender with over 200 employees. NFM, Inc. is obviously prospering under David’s leadership:
Always the entrepreneur, David owned and operated several small businesses before launching NFM, Inc. He is driven to succeed and carries that mindset through to his employees and branches.
David received his Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland, College Park.
Jan Ozga, Chief Operating Officer
Jan Ozga joined NFM in November of 2007 and brought with him 11 years of mortgage and 20 years of management experience. His most recent position was with WMC Mortgage Corporation as one of the top ten Business Development Representatives. There he generated new business and developed a base of over 375 brokers across Virginia and Maryland. Through his position with WMC, he was introduced to NFM and worked very closely with the Sales, Operations, and Processing departments.
Jan’s approach integrates the development of customer-focused teams and effective business strategies, which complements NFM’s philosophy and values. He is a highly energetic proven sales and management leader with excellent motivation, presentation, and negotiation skills. Jan is ready to drive NFM into this new era of the industry where solid direction is crucial.
Matthew W. Glyder, CPA, Chief Financial Officer
Matthew W. Glyder is the Chief Financial Officer for NFM, Inc. Matthew is responsible for managing and maintaining both corporate and retail branch accounts payable, taxes, the payroll process, and preparing monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements. He also provides a valuable service to NFM, Inc. by continually reviewing all fiscal processes to maximize efficiency.
Most recently, Matthew served as Controller and Assistant Vice President for Bozzuto Landscaping Company, a division of The Bozzuto Group. While at Bozzuto, he was responsible for all financial aspects of the company including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting as well as the general management of the company.
Matthew received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Maryland. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maryland Association of CPAs.
Stephanie Bogan, General Counsel Legal & Compliance
Stephanie Bogan serves as General Counsel for NFM, Inc. In additional to overseeing subjects such as employee matters, consumer complaints, acquisitions and corporate contracts, Stephanie also manages all federal and state licensing for NFM, Inc. Her work is integral in interpreting and implementing necessary policies and procedures for NFM, Inc. to remain in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Stephanie previous was employed as a Senior Regulatory Compliance Associate for Capital One Financial Corporation. At Capital One, she was responsible for analyzing and implementing banking laws, regulations and policies to ensure compliance. She has also gained experience as a Regulatory Compliance Attorney for Lotstein Buckman, LLP.
Stephanie received her Bachelor of Arts from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, and her Juris Doctorate from University of Richmond in Richmond, VA. Stephanie is a member of the New York State Bar, Washington, DC Bar, American Bar Association, American Bankers Association, and Women in Housing & Finance.
LaTasha Rowe, Associate Counsel & Compliance Manager
LaTasha Rowe serves as Associate Counsel and Compliance Manager for NFM, Inc. In addition to overseeing subjects such as interim servicing, sub-servicer management, and all other servicing operations, LaTasha also interprets and implements policies and procedures to ensure NFM, Inc. maintains compliance with ECOC, FCRA, RESPA and other federal, state and local regulations impacting NFM, Inc.
LaTasha was previously employed as a Transactional Real Estate Attorney with a mid-sized law firm prior to starting her own business where she provided corporate, employment and other consulting services to mid-sized and large corporations. One of LaTasha’s major projects involved forensic analysis of mortgage backed securities for pooling purposes.
LaTasha received her Bachelor of Science with honors from the University of Maryland, in Princess Anne, Maryland and her Juris Doctorate from University of Baltimore in Baltimore, MD. LaTasha is a member of the Maryland State Bar, Virginia Bar, and the Washington, DC Bar.
Pamela Knouse, Closing and Post-Closing Manager
Pam Knouse serves as Closing and Post Closing Manager for NFM, Inc. She oversees the final auditing of loan files in accordance with Federal and State Regulation as well as NFM, Inc. guidelines prior to closing and delivery of the loan to investors. Pam is responsible for performing quality control on the daily functions of her staff to meet investor requirements. She works closely with management to train and implement processes and procedures and develop quality workflow within the departments.
Prior to coming to NFM, Inc. Pam was previously employed with Sher Financial Group as the Director of Operations. There, she implemented and developed all procedures within the warehouse lending division including obtaining FHA correspondent and final Full Eagle approval of the company. In this capacity oversaw daily operations of processing, underwriting, closing and funding, quality control and warehouse policies. She assisted in creating loan officer and branch licensing procedures along with state continuing education requirements. She was also responsible for the filing of all state and federal reporting requirements, and represented the company during regulatory audits.
Pam has been in the mortgage industry since 1989 which includes the broker and banking atmosphere. This experience has allowed her to develop key management skills in every function of the mortgage industry. Her continuing education includes participation in training programs with loan officers to develop fundamentals for functions performed in the processing of a loan, and to help them originate better quality loan files.
Shaun Hires, Director of Operations
After receiving his Bachelors of Science degree in Business from High Point University in 1989, Shaun has been in the banking business for the last 19+ yrs. Shaun has had his Direct Endorsement authority from HUD since 1993 and is intimately familiar with conforming, FHA & VA mortgages. Shaun has held several positions from Business Affairs Coordinator to Operations Manager. With every position he gained more knowledge and insight into the complete process of a loan from processing to reconciling the office warehouse lines.
In 2002, Shaun then obtained a position at Novastar Financial as a field underwriter for local retail and regional wholesale operations. He was responsible for, not only for the underwriting of Conventional & Subprime but all his own closings, wire reconciliations, quality control and post closing packages. In 2004 he would become the underwriting manager, managing a staff of 5 people which would include underwriting and quality control.
In 2006, he was appointed as operations manager, overseeing underwriting, processing, closing and quality control while still maintaining his own underwriting pipeline.
Shaun started with NFM in Feb 2008 as an underwriter before obtaining a position as the Director of Operations in July 2008. He is now responsible for a staff of 15 people encompassing all retail mortgage operations functions including processing, underwriting, closings, post closing, quality control and pricing.
Cathy Purdham, Underwriting Manager
Cathy has 26 years of experience in mortgage banking. In 1985 she was hired as a processor for a second mortgage company. Cathy received her Direct Endorsement from HUD in 1990 allowing her to underwrite FHA loans. She has processed and underwritten Conventional Conforming and Jumbo product as well as FHA and VA loans. Positions held over the years include Underwriting Manager, Operations Manager and Region Operations Manager. She has worked for several Lenders in Maryland supporting the Maryland, DC, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey area. Cathy’s signature authority including exception authority reached to loan amounts up to 1.5 million. She’s been responsible for up to 50 employees reporting directly to her and up to 100 indirect employees.
In 2004 Cathy was hired as the Operations Manager for a new GreenPoint Branch in Silver Spring, Maryland. This branch proved to be GreenPoint’s first branch to achieve 1 million dollars of closed loan volume in the first year of operation. Cathy was promoted to Regional Operations Manager in 2006. She was responsible for 5 branch offices located in Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey and Georgia. Under her management the Silver Spring office was awarded the Most Efficient Operations Department on the East Coast for 2 years running.
In July of 2009 Cathy joined NFM. She was hired as a Senior Underwriter. Within the first year of employment Cathy was promoted to Underwriting Manager supporting 8 underwriters. Her current responsibilities include 4 underwriters reporting directly to her, updating policies and procedures, continuing education for the underwriting staff, assisting post closing with investor conditions, pipeline management, liaison to loan branch sales managers and loan officers, and support the Director of Operations when unavailable.
Bob Tyson, EVP Lending
Bob recently ran the Operations for the Southeast Region of Prospect Mortgage, LLC, which included operations, credit policies and procedures, accounting, and FTE cost.
Prior to Prospect Mortgage’s acquisition of Fidelity & Trust Mortgage, a division of Fidelity & Trust Bank, he served as the Chief Operations Officer for Fidelity & Trust. As COO, he focused on credit policy, management of branches, operational efficiencies, and worked with HUD, FDIC, and Maryland State regulators.
Bob was instrumental in building Fidelity & Trust’s annual origination platform from approximately $100 million to more than $1.5 billion annually. In this role he worked closely with the Secondary Department and served as the conduit between Loan Originators.
Bob’s responsibilities include heading up NFM’s mandatory desk, as well maintaining a focus on the increasing purchase money business.
Kamal Ranabhat, Director of Information Technology
Kamal is responsible for managing, maintaining and enhancing Information Technology Resources of NFM. The IT department at NFM develops and executes plans to deploy latest Mortgage Technologies as well as provides technical support to all employees of NFM.
Kamal received his Bachelors of Science in Information Systems from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and is currently pursuing his Masters of Science in Information Systems Engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. After interning at NFM in his senior, Kamal has held various positions in Information Technology department. In November 2008, he was promoted to the Director of Information Technology position.
Bernadette Pearson, Human Resources Director
Bernadette Pearson is the Human Resources Director at NFM Inc. Bernadette is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the human resource management activities of NFM Inc’s corporate and retail branches. Her functions include employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies, employee relations, and regulatory compliance.
Prior to coming to NFM Inc., Bernadette was an Employment Officer for an Academy for Educational Development (AED), an International Development organization, in Washington DC. She was responsible for coordination, planning, and implementation of all aspects of domestic and international recruitment. Her areas of responsibility included recruitment, new employee orientation, intern orientation, job fairs, policies and procedures, and employee relations programs.
Bernadette’s educational background includes a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from American University, Washington DC and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. She is currently enrolled in the PhD in Human Resource Leadership and Management Program at Capella University, scheduled to graduate at the end of 2011. Bernadette is a member of the National Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
Tom Sealock, Director of Secondary Marketing
Tom Sealock is the Director of Secondary Marketing at NFM, Inc. Tom is responsible for managing and monitoring all aspects of the Secondary functions as it pertains to warehouse lines, pricing, processing, underwriting, compliance, closing, funding and post-closing. He serves as the primary liaison for our investors by assisting with contract negotiations and relationship development. Investor relationship development includes the monitoring of production volume, lock fallout, borrower default statistics, and other various investor measures. His functions also include the monitoring of investor guidelines and the development and implementation of NFM policies and procedures while ensuring the necessary changes are communicated to all departments.
Prior to coming to NFM, Inc., Tom was a Bank Account Executive for Bank of America, which was a liaison between Bank of America Mortgage and the banking centers in the Baltimore region. He was responsible for monitoring banking center production goals as well as guiding and coaching associates throughout the Baltimore region. He introduced demand generation strategies and facilitated various training initiatives which helped associates drive towards their mortgage goals. He worked closely with the Baltimore Regional team to identify areas of opportunity and discuss future.
Kingsley Kodan, Director of Branch Development
Kingsley Kodan Joined NFM as the Director of Branch Development on June 1, 2011. He has over 16 years of experience in Mortgage Banking with a career funded volume exceeding $3 Billion. He has served the industry in various capacities as a Loan Originator, Sales Manager, Account Executive and Vice President of Sales. In his most recent position as an Account Executive with Franklin American Mortgage he was able to establish and develop a territory in MD, VA, DC & DE for their Wholesale Chanel. This included an account base of over a Hundred Brokers. He was able to achieve outstanding production and was ranked top 10 in the company. He will be responsible for further developing NFM’s Retail Branching Program on a National basis. He is intimately aware of the challenges brokers face in today’s lending environment and will work closely with the Retail Branches and provide the tools, expertise and support needed to ensure their success.
